The event organisers will be hoping that the weather won’t spoil the final day – next Saturday 25th – so that at least half of the planned six races can be completed. Three races will mean no discard so putting the pressure on everyone for a good last day and providing a more accurate series of winners across the 11 classes participating.
Going into the final race, the IRC pace is being set in Class 0, 1 and 2 by Roy Dickson’s ‘Rosie’, the Tyrrell’s ‘Aqualina’ from Arklow and ‘Kinetic’ (Murphy/Colwell) respectively. Antrim visitor Albert Mayrs heads Class 3 while two local stalwarts Colm Bermingham (‘Bite the Bullet’) and Harry Byrne (‘Alphida’) are the leaders of Class 4 and 5.
In the one-design classes, the large Squib fleet is led by Emmet Dalton in ‘Klipbok’ while there’s a tie at the top of the Puppeteer leader-board between Dave Clarke’s ‘Harlequin’ and the Callen/Stanley partnership’s ‘Mojo’.
The classic Howth 17 Footers are headed by ‘Gladys’ (Cronin/Jones) and the more modern Etchells and SB3s are topped by ‘No Money No Honey’ (O’Grady/Beshoff/Reilly) and ‘Aranow’ (Des Faherty) respectively.
