Glenans Needs Your Support

20th October 2009

Glenans Irish Sailing Club, the country's longest established sail training organisation, has launched a major fundraising drive to help guarantee its future. It is appealing to members, past and present, and to anyone concerned about sailing in Ireland to support an initiative aimed at clearing the Club's debts and preparing for the next phase of its development.

This year Glenans celebrates forty years in Ireland but the future of the Club is uncertain unless significant funds can be raise, and raised quickly.

Tens of thousands of Irish sailors had their first taste of the sea through Glenans at its bases in Baltimore and Clew Bay. Let's make sure the same opportunity is available to tens of thousands more in the years ahead.

The Club is offering long-term membership to those who support the appeal. Five-year, Ten-year and Life Memberships are available for Euro 250, Euro 350 and Euro 500 respectively. The target is Euro 75,000, more than half of which has already been raised. To subscribe please contact Glenans on 028 20630 or check the website www.gisc.ie under events or complete the attached form here.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
