Baily Bowl One to be staged at the National YC

It's the first of the season and perhaps the biggest dedicated one design event of the year and this May 16/17 the Baily Bowl One Design Championship 2009 will be staged at the National Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire. Racing is being organised for the Dragon, SB3, RS Elite, Squib and the east coast event also incorporates the Flying Fifteen South Coast Championship 2009 (figure that if you can). 1.Venue
 The Royal Alfred Yacht Club takes pleasure in inviting you to compete in the Baily Bowl One Design Championship which will be held on May 9th -10th 2009 under the Burgee of the Royal Alfred Yacht Club at the National Yacht Club, Dun Laoghaire Harbour.

2. Rules.
This Regatta will be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) the Royal Alfred Yacht Club Rules, the prescriptions of the Irish Sailing Association and any amendments thereto.
The SB3 (270kg) and Dragon (285 kg) class rules concerning total Crew Weight and Crew Numbers will apply.
 
3. Eligibility & Entry
The Championship will be held for the following classes: Laser SB3;  Dragon; RS Elite; Squib and Flying Fifteen.
All boat owners and helms, except visitors to Dun Laoghaire, must be members of the Royal Alfred Yacht Club. Boats shall enter only in writing by completing and signing the official entry form paying the entry fee per the entry form attached (or website www.rayc.ie <http://www.rayc.ie> ) not later than Wednesday May 14th . For visiting boats the temporary membership of the RAYC and the NYC is granted for the duration of the championship,
 
4. Category.
ISAF regulation 20 will apply
 
5. Sailing instructions.
These will be emailed to entered boats and be available in hardcopy at the race office National YC
 
6. Schedule of Races.
Racing will take place in Dublin Bay on May 16th and 17th the schedule is as follows:
On Saturday there will be three races for all classes “back to back”. First race is scheduled at 1100 subject to weather conditions. On Sunday 21st two races are scheduled for all classes. First warning signal at 1100 hours. .
 
7. The Course.
There will be two Windward / Leeward.(with Leeward Gate) courses as follows:
Course A:   Laser SB3 & Dragons
Course B:  Elites, Flying Fifteens and Squibs
 
8. Scoring.
8.1.  RRS 89.3 applies in that scoring shall be in accordance with RRS Appendix A (Low Points System, except that if 3 or less races are sailed, all shall count.
8.2.    If 4 or more races are sailed there shall be 1 discard, subject to the provisions RRS Appendix A2. Series Scores.
8.3.    Series Ties in accordance with Appendix A 8
 
9. Berthing & Hauling Out.
Visiting boats are requested to launch in the National Yacht Club. Launching is available Friday 1000 to 1900 and Saturday 0900. Boat crews arriving late on Friday are requested to rig and have the boat ready for launching on Saturday morning. Trailer parking will be provided on the Carlisle Pier and visitors are requested to tow the trailers there immediately after launching. RRS 45 does not apply, there will be no hauling restrictions and therefore boats may be dry-sailed or left in the water. All visitors will be dry sailed from the club or accommodated on the club pontoons depending on space.
 
10. Penalties for breaking Rules of Part 2.
10.1 RRS 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that the Two-Turns penalty is replaced by one turn for Laser SB3, Dragon and Elite classes.

 
11. Insurance.
Each Boat’s owner(s) and competing crews shall ensure that they are adequately insured against loss, damage or injury to persons, Boats or equipment at all times and however occurring and shall maintain 3rd party insurance cover of not less than One and a quarter million euros  Є1,250.000 (1.25 Million euros) for any one accident. All Owners/competitors who sign the entry forms are deemed to have made a declaration that they hold such cover.
 
12. Liability.
No responsibility shall be accepted by the Royal Alfred Yacht Club, the National Yacht Club, or any of the associated waterfront clubs, their directors, officers, members servants or agents nor any sponsor, nor those officials or members connected with the Event for any loss, damage or any other claim of whatever nature however arising or caused in connection with the participation in or intended participation in the Baily Bowl.

 
13. Responsibility.
The safety of the Boat and her crew is the sole and inescapable responsibility of the Owner(s) or the Person in charge whose obligation it is to ensure that the Boat is fully sound, seaworthy and is manned by an experienced crew with all the required safety gear. Either this Notice of Race or the Sailing Instructions nor any action by the Royal Alfred Yacht Club its Organising Committee or the National Yacht Club in any way limits the responsibility of the Owner(s) or the Person in charge. Attention is drawn to RRS 4 Part 1 Fundamental Rules.
 
14. Prizes.
The following prizes will be awarded.
Overall 1st 2nd & 3rd in each class.

I wish to enter the Boat indicated above in the Baily Bowl One Design Championship and I agree to be bound by ‘the rules’ as defined in the  Racing Rules of Sailing, the Class Rules (where applicable) and the Sailing Instructions.  I accept that the participation of the above named boat in the Championships is at my sole and exclusive risk in every respect.  By this entry I hereby indemnify the National Yacht Club, their officers, members, servants, agents and sponsor(s) in respect of all claims and demands of whatever nature which may be made upon them in connection with or howsoever arising from the participation or intended participation of the above named boat in the Championships, and I acknowledge that the National Yacht Club, and their officers, servants, agents and sponsor(s) accept no responsibility in respect of loss of life, personal injury or loss of or damage to property, vessel or equipment which I or any other person may sustain by reason of the participation or intended participation of the above boat in the Championships or howsoever arising in connection with this event. I undertake to produce a valid certificate of insurance for third party liability of not less thanЄ1,300.000 (1.3 Million euros) for any one accident, upon request.
