Entries open for Youth Regatta

30th April 2009

Entries are being accepted for the Mitsubishi Youth Championship being run from Dun Laoghaire's National and Royal St George Yacht clubs on the weekend of 9/10 May. The event is the first of a number of youth regattas to be held on Dublin Bay in the lead up to the 2012 ISAF Youth World Championships and is open to youth sailors under 21 years of age in Optimist, RS Feva, Topper, Laser and 420 classes. The event will be the 2009 Leinster championships for the Feva class and will also host a number of exciting Olympic class 49er skiffs as a demonstration class.

As well as Mitsubishi, the support of clothing company Jack Wills has been confirmed for the event party in the National YC on Saturday evening – see attached notice. Each competitor will receive one free ticket with their entry. While a limited number of additional tickets for family or friends will be available to competitors for €10 at registration, enter and sail in the event to be sure of securing your ticket. We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
