What's on next week (15–21 June)

12th June 2009

Irish weather is impossible to accurately predict, so what’s on next week that might cheer you up if it’s grey – or get you outdoors if it’s fine? Lots of sailing, for one thing: National Squib and Ruffian Championships at Dun Laoghaire, Lambay Races at Howth, a Regatta and RS Elite UK Nationals at RNIYC, and Skerries has the Fireballs. For speedfreaks, head to Cavan for the Irish Powerboat Club’s Race Weekend on Lough Ramor.
The Inland Waterways Association of Ireland have lots going on this week, from the Midsummer Party at Lough Ree to the Knockninny Cruise to name just two events. Keeping the whole family entertained is easy too: go south for the Cork Midsummer Festival and Cobh’s Summer Swing, or head to Dublin city centre for a free Handel’s Messiah Concert at Christchurch, or a Summer Solstice Walk starting from Dublin Castle, and of course Rathfarnham’s Summer Fair at beautiful Marlay Park.
