Doyle Sails Ireland are on call as the curtains close on the final Autumn League race in Cork, and many sails are now coming to the end of a very long time in the air this year. A season which has seen several high-grade regattas from Volvo Cork Week in the Royal Cork Yacht Club in July, a breezy West Cork Hotel Calves Week in August to Dublin Bay's trio of regattas run seamlessly by the Royal Irish Yacht Club throughout September.

Doyle Sails Ireland is the new lofts on the block in Crosshaven, Co. Cork, and Rush, Co. Dublin, but we are no strangers to the repair, service, and professional advice we provide our customers.

Sail Laundry

The laundry pile accumulates within both lofts, and it's not too late to miss the boat for professionally washing your sails. It's best to get sails out of the elements before the dampness really gets bedded into your sails, especially those headsails on furlers and mainsails within stack packs; it is worth contemplating a birthday wash this winter. We can have your sails collected, or why not drop them in for an inspection? We'll report if they would benefit from washing and highlight any areas of fatigue, wear and tear, which may be worth getting some love before they cause you grief next season.

Doyle Sails Customers Season Report

The Elliott 57 "Opal" enjoyed its first successful season with a new quiver of Doyle Sails delivered at the start of 2024 and went on to win the ISORA Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire Race. The Stratis race sails brought a new lease of speed to Opal, and a full rig tune provided by Doyle Sails Ireland correctly tuned the EC6 composite continuous standing rigging.

Half Tonner - 2Farr has hit Irish waters fully powered by Doyle Sails, which have been developed and optimised by Nin and David to win ways in their class at the recent IRC Europeans. Their previous Half Tonner "King One" won the 2022 Half Ton Cup with a full suit of Doyle Sails.

Dehler 34 - Pat Collins of Baltimore enjoyed the West Cork Hotel Calves Week Regatta, winning a very competitive Class 3 with its inventory of Doyle Sails. We delivered a Carbon Sport LS main to Pat just days before the regatta and, following a handover sea trial, gave it the green light for race day. We looked for better all-round improvement from sail area and sail shape, "Éalú" had the right gears to just narrowly beat the very competitive team onboard the quarter tonner "Diamond".

1720 – Mia Murphy has been a big ambassador for us at Doyle, successfully co-driving "Nieulargo" the Grand Soliel 40 with her sister Molly to two big breeze Fastnet races and an Overall Dun Laoghaire to Dingle Win, to name but a few of these talented Ladies at the Helm results. Last September, Mia had our latest 1720 Structured Luff headsail and Stratis Mainsail, providing her with the tools to secure 2nd Overall in a very competitive fleet at the 1720 Nationals in Baltimore.

Optimising for 2025

There has been several new rules introduced by the IRC from January of this year and we are happy to discuss how best to optimise your boat for better results next year. Whether it's exploring the sail configuration across your inventory, targeting the boat's weak point in a certain wind range, improving your running rigging package to the latest in rope materials or tweaking a deck layout to optimising sail handling or trim, we're here at the end of the phone to help you.
