WOW!, another Cork Week has just flown by, my 18th - an unbroken run since 1990 - a most epic half-life sentence!

As always, your North Sails team were there on and off the water supporting and helping all competitors which we hugely enjoy.

My colleague Shane Hughes was racing onboard Mike & Richie Evans J112e "The big Picture" as trimmer, winning IRC with a string of first places. Shane was also kept out of mischief every night running the North Sails Cork Week Service programme.

Paul Keal and I were racing as pit and tactician respectively onboard John Treanor's NMD 43 'CrisTina', taking 3rd overall in IRC Coastal.

Charlie Cumbley from North Sails UK won the Etchells Europeans as tactician aboard Chris Hampton's 'Tango'.

Nick Cherry was racing aboard the IRC 3 winning all-conquering 'BLT'.

This year was a light / medium air affair for the most part with a wide variety of sail types being used.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
