Two Workers Die After Crane Accident Over River Shannon

#Shannon - Two men have died while working on a crane performing bridge works on the River Shannon in Limerick city yesterday afternoon (Saturday 29 August).

As BreakingNews.ie reports, the men were in a cage attached to a crane being used for remedial works on Thomond Bridge when the cable holding the cage snapped.

The cage then fell into the river, trapping the men underwater for a number of minutes before they could be reached by rescue divers.

A third man who had been in the cage was able to free himself and swim away, and is currently in hospital under observation.
