#HotTub - Vessels in the English Channel have been warned to keep watch for a hot tub adrift in the water after a houseboat sank near Brighton this week.

On Wednesday 17 June, Newhaven RNLI attended to a tug towing two 22-metre houseboats on their way to the Thames area, one of which began taking on water and sank within 20 minutes.

As YBW reports, the lifeboat and tug crew were able to collect some debris that floated to the surface from the sunken houseboat.

But the hot tub was too large to recover, and its last known position was passed to Dover Coastguard.

#Missing - Search and rescue teams have been combing the coastline around Brighton for a missing yachtsman after his yacht was found drifting in the southern English town's marina late last night.

According to Yachting & Boating World, fears for the missing man's safety grew after an RNLI crew member who boarded the 70ft Sunseeker found no sign of life, despite the instruments being on and the engine still being warm.

The search has spread out from Brighton Marina and environs to some miles offshore into the English Channel in what were described as "challenging conditions" overnight for lifeboat volunteers, with the search suspended before lunchtime today.

As the Eastbourne Herald reports, the missing yachtsman is believed to be Leonard George King from Alfriston in East Sussex, who failed to return home from a planned trip yesterday.

Calves Week Regatta takes place in Schull in early August, continuing the annual tradition in West Cork since the inception of the Schull Harbour Sailing Club in 1884.

In more recent years, a more compact schedule as an alternative to the older two-week even has proved popular.

The four-day Calves Week Championships with the usual mix of courses taking in the Fastnet Rock and many of Carbery's Hundred Isles, together with laid courses in Roaringwater Bay is one of Irish sailing's enduring fixtures.

A daily prize-giving takes place on Main Street in Schull, which sees a nautical festival theme for the village organised by local businesses.
