The Dún Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club Kish Challenge has been postponed until next Sunday, October 4th, after a forecast of strong winds at the scheduled start time.
Race Officer Cormac Bradley confirmed the postponement to Afloat, with the decision taken following the latest Met Éireann forecast for conditions expected around the planned 10.55am start.
The annual race around the Kish Lighthouse had been scheduled for Sunday, September 27th, with both racing and cruising divisions due to take part.
The postponement continues a recent pattern of weather-related challenges for the DMYC fixture. Previous editions have also required changes to schedules or courses because of conditions, including the 2024 race which was moved after weather concerns before eventually being sailed on a shortened course.
The 2026 Challenge will now use the reserve date of Sunday, October 4th. The Notice of Race and entry arrangements remain in place, with the event retaining both its racing format and the cruising division introduced last year.
