Irish sailing judge Gordon Davies will serve on the International Jury for the 2026 Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe, adding an Irish officiating presence to November’s major solo transatlantic race.
Davies will be on duty at the Saint-Malo start, where Ireland will also be represented on the water by Pamela Lee, the sole Irish skipper in the race and the first Irishwoman to compete in the Route du Rhum.
International Judging Experience
Davies has longstanding experience in international race officiating and was appointed an International Sailing Federation International Judge in 2014.
His role on the Route du Rhum International Jury will place him on the race-official side of an event bringing together solo sailors across several divisions for the Atlantic crossing from Brittany to Guadeloupe.
Lee Remains Sole Irish Skipper
As Afloat reported in its Class40 preview, Lee is set to become the first Irishwoman to compete in the Route du Rhum and will be among 49 Class40 skippers — the largest division in this year's race.
The 13th Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe starts from Saint-Malo on Sunday, November 1, with the fleet racing across the Atlantic to Pointe-à-Pitre.
