#Rowing: Paul O’Donovan finished fifth overall in the single sculls at the Armada Cup, and Sanita Puspure third in the Gold Cup in Philadelphia, a race that was part of the Head of the Schuylkill event.

 At the Ireland trial at the National Rowing Centre, Shane O’Driscoll and Mark O’Donovan won the men’s pair on Sunday, with David O’Malley and Shane Mulvaney second. O'Driscoll and O'Donovan did not compete on the Saturday.

 Jack Dorney of Shandon won both the junior single sculls and the junior double, with Castleconnell’s Rory O’Neill. Molly Curry had equivalent wins: she teamed up with Lauren O’Brien – also of Castleconnell – on the Sunday.

 UCD’s men’s senior eight were fastest at the Castleconnell Head of the River, and Enniskillen junior crews also shone.

#Rowing: Sanita Puspure won the women’s category at the Armada Cup in Switzerland. The Old Collegians sculler, competing for the first time in her new boat, was the fastest senior woman by over 20 seconds. Damir Martin of Croatia outpaced Mahe Drysdale of New Zealand to win the men’s open category. World champion Ondrej Synek was 12th.

Men, Open: 1 D Martin (Croatia) 33 mins 16.39 seconds, 2 M Drysdale (New Zealand) 33:40.73, 3 P Fraga (Portugal) 33:48.10.

Women, Open: 1 S Puspure (Ireland) 37:50.84, 2 M Milosevic (Croatia) 38:13.68, 3 K Milosevic (Croatia) 39:10.90.

Lambs Week Regatta on Galway Bay

With a theme of accessibility, Lambs Week was devised to celebrate the unique sailing grounds of the West of Ireland. 

It comprises five days of sailing around Galway Bay and the Aran Islands.

Big boats, small boats, fast boats and slow boats are all welcome.

The fleet, which totalled 46 for the first edition in 2021, takes in three beautiful harbours of Ros aMhil, Cil Ronain and Cloch naRon, each keen to offer a warm welcome to the competing sailors. 

Organisers Galway Bay Sailing Club match similarly rated boats to see who can get the best out of the conditions for a 'Sail in Company'.  A Pursuit Challenge around the islands for both competitive and non-competitive boats is also held.
