Galway Atlantaquaria is marking World Ocean Day with a series of “mindful steps by the sea” between June 8th and 13th “What the ocean teaches us” is the theme of the events, which are funded by An Taisce’s Clean Coasts initiative and involve Inga Turcan of MindSlí.

Mindful Steps By The Sea is described as “a guided reflective shore journey made up of ten short exercises inspired by psychology, reflective practice, and our relationship with the natural environment”.

“Through the experience, participants come away with a clearer sense of where they stand on themes like change, belonging, and resilience, and small, concrete ways to carry those insights into everyday life.” “Just you, the coast, and a set of questions worth sitting with,” Garry Kendellen of Galway Atlantaquaria and Inga Turcan explain. The experience is described as “calm, inclusive, and suitable for adults and children”.

Participants will be asked to complete a Clean Coasts #2MinuteBeachClean. The events on Grattan Breach, Salthill, are on Monday, June 8th (World Ocean Day), June 11th and June 13th. Pre-booking is essential; participants should be aware of the weather and should bring gloves for litter picking.
