Donna Dyer's Herreshoff-designed Rowdy NY40 was strongly Irish crewed when it took the overall win in the Gaff Vintage class of the Palma Classics race week on Sunday.
Onboard for the 30th Illes Balears Clàssics Regatta was Royal Irish Yacht Club skipper Timothy Goodbody Jnr, with Oisin McClelland of Donaghadee Sailing Club, Grattan Roberts of Royal Cork YC, and Harry Durcan of Baltimore Sailing Club
The Herreshoff-designed cutter, owned by Donna Dyer, dominated all three races, outpacing competitors such as Gipsy and Archangelo.
Dyer expressed her satisfaction, stating, "We are thrilled with Rowdy's performance."
In addition to Rowdy's success, the event featured strong showings across various categories. Tuiga won in the Big Boats category, narrowly defeating The Lady Anne.
In Classics, Argos and Clarionet tied for the lead, but Argos took the win due to partial victories.
The Sonata class saw Jordi Cabau's vessel finish first after maintaining its lead throughout the competition. The regatta's final day faced cancellation due to a lack of wind, leaving the overall standings unchanged. Nevertheless, the event celebrated notable achievements and a fierce spirit of competition.
