The National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) is holding its annual Open Day on Thursday, 7th November from 10:00 to 15:30.

The event on maritime courses will be held at the college campus in Ringaskiddy, lower Cork Harbour.

Students can learn more about the NMCI academic programmes leading to careers in the maritime industry.

In addition, the Open Day will allow those to be able to meet students and staff, take a tour of the NMCI's state-of-the-art training facilities, and visit a maritime careers exhibition with international shipping companies and maritime organisations.

Many of these shipping companies and maritime organisations offer sponsorship and employment opportunities to students undertaking the courses.

NMCI recommends advance registration to facilitate your tour and advises students can attend with a school tour or individually attend with a parent/guardian.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
