Sailing will make its Commonwealth Youth Games debut in Malta from 29 October to 4 November 2027. This announcement marks a significant milestone for the sport, according to the world governing body for sailing.

World Sailing CEO David Graham expressed enthusiasm, stating, “This is excellent news for the sport of sailing and for young sailors around the world.” He noted that many participating nations have strong maritime traditions.

Dr Donald Rukare, President of Commonwealth Sport, welcomed the decision to host the Games in Malta. He thanked Commonwealth Sport Malta and the Government of Malta for their commitment.

Malta will host around 1,150 athletes aged 14 to 18 from 74 Commonwealth nations. The sport programme will feature eight sports, with sailing and water polo making their event debuts.
