World Sailing Gdynia test event launch ahead of 2027 Worlds

World Sailing has published the Notice of Race for the test event ahead of the 2027 World Sailing Championships in Gdynia. The event will run from 14–19 July 2026. It will include Men’s Skiff, Women’s Skiff, Mixed Dinghy, Mixed Multihull and Para Inclusive classes.

The Notice of Race is available on the World Sailing website. Entry must be made through Member National Authorities.

World Sailing President Quanhai Li said Gdynia has a “storied maritime history” and welcomed the championships as part of the city’s centenary celebrations. He thanked the Polish Yachting Association for its support and organisation of the test event.

World Sailing CEO David Graham said the event will help sailors, officials and organisers prepare. It will test courses, race management systems, on‑shore facilities and logistics. He added that it allows athletes to familiarise themselves with local conditions ahead of the main championships.

Preparations have included a site visit by Graham, hosted by Polish Yachting Association President Tomasz Holc and World Sailing Vice-President Tomasz Chamera.

Representatives from the Gdynia Sports Centre, the City of Gdynia, local sports authorities and the Mayor Aleksandra Kosiorek joined the meeting. Holc said the visit was “an important step in the preparation process” to meet teams and local partners. Chamera noted hosting the 2027 Worlds is part of Poland’s broader preparations for a future Olympic bid.

More information on the 2027 World Sailing Championships, to be held in Fortaleza and Gdynia, is available on the World Sailing website.

The Gdynia event will be organised by the Polish Yachting Association, with support from the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, the Pomeranian Voivodship, and the City of Gdynia.
