East Antrim Boat Club in Northern Ireland held its annual Christmas Regatta on Saturday, 27 December.

Three races were sailed in variable conditions. Race officer Richard Doig moved the marks for the second race after a 90° wind shift.

The day began in bright sunshine. Winds increased and shifted before settling for the third race. Temperatures dropped as the afternoon progressed.

Two class starts were used. Double‑handed crews included GP14s, RS200s and Flying Fifteens. Single‑handers were ILCA 6, ILCA 7 and Toppers.

Sailors travelled from Cushendall Sailing and Boating Club, County Antrim Yacht Club and Carrickfergus Sailing Club.

In the double‑handed handicap, Ben Ferris and Sheila Lewis (Flying Fifteen Classic) finished first. Joshua Kane and Charlie Patterson (RS200) were second. Martin Agnew and Scott Leitch (Flying Fifteen Open) placed third.

The first lady overall in doubles was Katie Kane. In GP14s, Curly and Melanie Morris won, followed by Daniel and Brian Corbett, then James Waugh and Katie Nelson.

In ILCA6, Gavin Doig took first, David Montgomery was second and Peter Cameron third. Jenna Reid was first lady and Freddie Doig first youth. Penny Doig won the Topper class.

A junior coached regatta, led by SI Kelly Patterson, took place in the morning. Seven juniors competed in three short races.

Ice was noted on covers on arrival, adding to the challenge for juniors. After racing ashore, results were collated and prizes awarded.

The day concluded with the club’s Annual Christmas Sailors Dinner.
