Strong south-westerly winds provided a lively finish to the Thursday Night Points Series at Royal Ulster Yacht Club (RUYC), with gusts of up to 20 knots for the final race on Thursday, 3rd September.
Twenty-one yachts and two dinghies took to Bangor Bay for the end-of-season fixture, with the south-westerly direction keeping the sea state relatively flat despite the stronger breeze.
Two Laps in Fading Light
Race Officer Robin McKelvey set a windward-leeward course, initially sending the fleet out to Mark 4 on the edge of Bangor Bay before bringing competitors back towards RUYC's Battery.
With the evenings drawing in, the course was shorter than in previous rounds. A course change to Mark 9 in the middle of Bangor Bay, however, allowed the fleet to complete a second lap before the fading light brought the series to a close.
Succession Takes Class 1 Honours
The final series standings saw Succession take first place in Class 1, ahead of Sigmantra in second and eXcession in third.
In Class 2, Squawk secured the overall win, followed by Bonanza and Caesium. The Whitesail division went to Whisper, with Impulz second and Merry Jack third.
Halliwell and Simpson Lead Dinghy Results
Sandra Halliwell finished first in the Fast Dinghies, ahead of Peter and Natalie Cameron in second and Christina Cunningham in third.

In the ILCA class, Conrad Simpson claimed first place, with Bob Espey second and Mikey Forbes completing the top three.
An end-of-season prizegiving was held in the RUYC clubhouse after racing, where Jonny Gillespie of Legacy Wealth Management and RUYC Honorary Sailing Secretary Rory Flannigan presented the prizes.
