ISORA's ambitious campaign to promote offshore sailing in the Irish Sea Area was boosted this Christmas by generous coverage in club yearbooks on both sides of the Irish Sea.
Not surprisingly, Pwllheli Sailing Club (PSC), the recognised centre for ISORA on the North Wales coast, reviews the success of its J109 Mojito campaign skippered by Peter Dunlop and Vicky Cox, who were the recipients of ISORA's 2022 Wolf's Head Trophy.
The 72-page PSC yearbook also outlines some of the challenges for ISORA racing across the channel, and article author Stephen Tudor, the ISORA secretary, admits the lack of walk-on walk-off ferry facilities at Holyhead has limited options for racing between Wales and Ireland.
The full PSC yearbook, with a full ISORA chapter, is available here in PDF format.
Cove Sailing Club
On the Irish south coast, the Cove Sailing Club's December publication from Cork Harbour "strongly urges any sailor out there with a thirst for adventure to try out ISORA racing".
As regular Afloat readers know, 2022 saw the reintroduction of the 1860 Kingstown to Queenstown Race (K2Q Race) and saw boats race from Dun Laoghaire to Cobh in celebration of the Victorian-era race.
The hope is that Cove Sailing Club boats might compete in the next race in 2024.
