The National Yacht Club's J109 Ruth (the Shanahan family) won overall in ISORA's 2024 Musto ISORA Series, bringing home the prestigious Wolf's Head Trophy to Dun Laoghaire's East Pier club after a thrilling coastal race finished in light airs on Dublin Bay on Saturday (28th September) evening.
Ruth came from behind to take the title from the overall leaders, the Pwllheli-based J122 Mojito (Peter Dunlop and Vicky Cox), who finished second overall by a margin of 4.4 points. The results are below.
The results were confirmed on Saturday evening after 16 races sailed this season, including a medium and light wind re-run of an earlier postponed Irish coastal race sailed on Saturday.
To win the overall ISORA series for the Wolf's Head Trophy, the points for the best five results out of all 2024 sailed races are counted, which, significantly, included two weighted cross-channel race wins for Ruth with a victory in May's cross-channel race, lifting July's K2Q trophy in Crosshaven after the Dublin to Cork Race as well as a Dun Laoghaire to Arklow race win in the same month.
Finishing third overall is Belfast Lough's JPK 1030 Coquine, skippered by Alan Hannon.
Over 43 boats competed in the series that began in April and will be celebrated at the ISORA prizegiving in November, which will include the overall presentation of the Wolf's Head Trophy.
The race programme is built around a busy racing calendar and is aimed to provide a full series of Coastal Races in Ireland and Wales. The Offshore Series was designed to provide a challenging series with a variety of ports and complexity.
