Pata Negra Leads ISORA Into Higher-Scoring Series Finale

Andrew and Sam Hall's Pata Negra leads the MUSTO ISORA 2026 Series ahead of the September 12 finale

Andrew and Sam Hall's Pata Negra continues to lead the MUSTO ISORA 2026 Series after 18 races, with the Wolf's Head Trophy set to be decided in a higher-scoring Pwllheli–Dún Laoghaire finale on September 12.

The Pwllheli Sailing Club Lombard 46 heads the provisional overall standings on 571.6 points, ahead of National Yacht Club's ReQuest on 495.0, with Saturday's Dún Laoghaire–Pwllheli winner Loinnir now third on 489.8.

ReQuest And Loinnir Separated By 5.2 Points

While Pata Negra retains a substantial advantage at the head of the fleet, the battle immediately behind has tightened considerably.

The Burke family's JPK 10.30 ReQuest holds second place, but John Malone and Emmet Sheridan's sistership Loinnir is now only 5.2 points adrift following its victory in Saturday's cross-channel race.

Two-handed Loinnir beat the fully crewed ReQuest by just three minutes and 39 seconds on IRC corrected time in the Dún Laoghaire–Pwllheli race, also taking the two-handed division.

Royal St George Yacht Club's Chris and Patanne Power Smith are fourth overall with the J/122 Aurelia on 472.3 points, while Frank Whelan's Sydney 43 GTS El Syd lies fifth on 417.8.

Five Scores Count

The provisional standings reflect a series in which only five results currently count.

After 18 races, the scoring table shows 13 discards, with five races to count under ISORA's High Points CHIPS 3 weighted scoring system.

Saturday's Race 18 produced a valuable 118.9-point score for Loinnir, compared with 112.9 for ReQuest, tightening their contest for second place before the final race.

James Eadie Trophy Finale

ISORA Honorary Secretary Stephen Tudor says everything is now lined up for the concluding race of the MUSTO ISORA 2026 Series on Saturday, September 12.

The fleet will race from Pwllheli to Dún Laoghaire for the James Eadie Trophy, with the higher-scoring offshore race set to confirm the final standings for the Wolf's Head Trophy as well as the individual class winners.

The overall standings remain provisional, with the latest published table updated at 10.39am on Sunday, August 30.
