Paprec Arkéa Suffers Damage After Buoy Collision in Le Havre

26th October 2025

This Sunday at 4:08 p.m., while in 7th place in the Transat Café L'Or, Yoann Richomme and Corentin Horeau collided with a buoy off Le Havre. The IMOCA Paprec Arkéa was travelling at over 16 knots when the impact damaged the rigging and the starboard outrigger.

The crew is reproted to be 'doing well' and is doing everything they can to secure their mast before turning back for a technical stopover in Le Havre, where their technical team is waiting to assess the extent of the damage and carry out repairs as quickly as possible.

The Transat Café L'Or, sailing instructions allow for stopovers of at least four hours.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
