Out of Office sails to victory in Race 1 of WIORA's Atlantic Cup

Race one of the 2025 WIORA Atlantic Cup Offshore Series took place on Sunday, August 25th. The race was postponed from the previous day due to calm winds.

Four boats lined up at the start: Big Deal, Jimmy Bum, Out of Office, and Tommiray. A light southerly breeze enabled all boats to begin the race on a reach from Foynes Yacht Club.

As the wind strengthened, Out of Office and Big Deal gained an advantage with code zeros. Jimmy Bum pursued closely, flying its spinnaker for as long as conditions allowed.

Utilising the ebb tide, the boats sped down the estuary, clocking speeds over 10 knots. The course then shifted to a fetch before transitioning into a beat to round Kerry Head and head south into the flat waters of Tralee Bay.

Once in the bay, the wind increased to 25 knots. Out of Office secured the win, finishing ahead of Jimmy Bum on corrected time. Big Deal crossed the line two minutes later, followed by Tommiray in fourth place.
