Irish Sailor of the Year Eve McMahon retained the title of ILCA 6 U21 World Champion in style at Viana Do Costello, Portugal on Monday.
As Afloat reported previously, McMahon emerged as the clear victor, finishing 30 points ahead of her closest competitors, Evie Saunders of Australia and Ginevra Caracciolo Di Brienza of Italy.
McMahon's achievement comes after a strong week of racing, where she consistently maintained low scores and secured first place in five of her races. The competition was intense, with challenging wind and tide conditions throughout.
Her coach, Rory Fitzpatrick, commended McMahon's outstanding performance and adaptability in various racing aspects, underscoring the significance of this victory as she gears up for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.
Notably, this win follows McMahon's previous triumph at the U21 World Championships in Tangier, Morocco, just eight months ago.
The Dubliner will make her Olympic debut in Marseille on August 1st, competing again in the ILCA 6 class.
