Howth brother and sister Olympic ILCA campaigners for LA 2028, Eve and Ewan McMahon, have moved on from the Princess Sofia Trophy in Mallorca to Hyeres in the south of France for the 56th edition of French Olympic Week.

729 competitors from 56 nations are competing across all ten Olympic fleets.

The first race of the Mediterranean regatta featured the largest fleet of boats, comprising 112 ILCA 7s and 76 ILCA 6s, in the men's and women's solo dinghy categories.

Eve is lying sixth overall in the ILCA  6. After starting two hours after the men, the women enjoyed the more invigorating conditions, with both races having started after 15:00 (CET). Anna Munch (1, 1) continued Denmark’s powerful record in this class with victory in both races in her fleet and was matched by USA’s Charlotte Rose, who won both hers in the other fleet, holding off Belgium’s two-time world champion, Emma Plasschaert.

The men's ILCA 7 also had two races, which saw Ewan's 'Green Rebel' in 11th place. The top three overall spots are all taken by the more consistent leaders of the yellow group. Duko Bos (1, 3) leads after two races, ahead of Montenegro’s Milivoj Dukic (4, 4) and Croatia’s Filip Jurisic (8, 1). Results in the blue group were much more varied!

Results are here, and racing continues this week.
