Fionn Lyden's Spiced Beef crew completed a comprehensive win of the 1720 European Championships on Galway Bay on Sunday with a second-place finish in the final race to extend their winning margin to six points.
The consistent Baltimore Sailing Club winners led the three-day competition from start to finish. After nine races, they closed their account with 27 points, compared to the second overall Kinsale entry, Dutch Gold, skippered by Michael O Suilleabhain, on 33.
Defending champion Ross McDonald of Howth YC finished third on 34, ending the championship with a race win.

The 16-boat fleet ran a full racing programme using the Vakaros Racesense system despite delays waiting for wind and two dismastings on day two.
