The 1720 sportsboat class has published its major event schedule for the 2026 season. The calendar includes national and international championships and the popular Baltimore Cup.
The high‑performance sportsboat is designed for competitive fleet racing. It is sailed by a crew of four and known for its fast, responsive handling.
The season opens with the Southern Championships at Royal Cork Yacht Club on 16 and 17 May. This event will attract 1720 crews from across the south of Ireland.
The National Championships follow at Baltimore Sailing Club in West Cork from 12‑14 June. The three‑day regatta is a key event in the class calendar.
Baltimore Sailing Club also hosts the Baltimore Cup on 1 and 2 August. The cup is a staple summer regatta for the 1720 fleet.
The European Championships conclude the season at Lough Derg Yacht Club from 4 to 6 September. This event is expected to draw international entries.
The 1720 Class said the schedule “offers a mix of competitive and regional events” for boat owners and crews. It added that the dates “aim to support strong participation throughout 2026”.
