The International 29er Class Association is on the lookout for a new Coaching and Development Manager. This role comes as the 29er Class continues to establish itself as a leading youth sailing category globally, particularly in Asia.
The organisation seeks a part-time consultant, aiming for 8 hours a week with some travel involvement. The position will support training programmes and help grow sustainable coaching networks within the region.
Key responsibilities include coaching at major events such as the Youth Worlds and Asian Championships. The manager will also develop clinics for both sailors and coaches transitioning into 29er sailing.
The position's emphasis is on fostering links with national federations and clubs. “We want to create pathways from youth sailing into the 29er,” said an association spokesperson.
Other tasks include designing coaching frameworks and mentoring emerging coaches. The position requires strong communication skills and a passion for youth sailing development.
Candidates with coaching qualifications recognised by World Sailing and experience in athlete pathways are encouraged to apply. The role aims to increase the number of trained 29er coaches and participants globally, particularly in Asia.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Director and collaborate with various sailing bodies, ensuring inclusivity in all programmes.
