The 2025 Cape 31 European Championship is set for 16-19 October at the Real Club Náutico de Palma (RCNP). With a record 25 boats entered from 13 nations, this event promises to be the most competitive in the class's history.
Alessandro Rombelli’s Stig leads the pack after winning both Italian events and the overall Mediterranean Circuit title. “We’re ready to add the European crown to our success,” Rombelli stated.
Sandy Askew’s Flying Jenny arrives as the 2025 UK Season Champion. After a strong national campaign, Askew said, “Our focus is now on Palma for the European title.”
Reigning champion La Pericolosa (GER) aims to defend their trophy, but faces a deep and challenging fleet. The competition will be fierce, as they attempt to repeat last year's victory in Sanremo.
The event showcases a truly international line-up. The UK fleet is the largest with seven boats, featuring teams like Jiraffe and Akheilos. Germany enters four boats, including the title defender, La Pericolosa.
The USA sends three competitive boats: Flying Jenny, Pacific Yankee, and Warrior Won. Other nations represented include Ireland, Monaco, the Isle of Man, and several others.
Standout challengers include Pacific Yankee, fresh off a Round 5 win, and ShotGunn, last year's podium finishers.
The Corinthian division is no less competitive, with teams like Motions (NED) and Terrible Joy (MON) vying for the European Corinthian crown.
RCNP is renowned for its race management and hospitality. “We’re thrilled to start in Palma after so much planning,” said Tor Tomlinson Cheney, Cape 31 Class Manager. “This is a milestone moment for the class.”
