The Mediterranean Cape 31 Race Circuit begins its 2026 season this week in Porto Cervo. Fourteen teams from ten nations are set to compete at the opening regatta. Racing starts on Thursday, 23 April, with an official training day ahead of the competition.

New Race Officer Mattias Dahlstrom will oversee proceedings, introducing updated race management. Teams will also use the Vakaros Race System for the first time to enhance tracking and performance. On-the-water umpiring will be deployed to support fair and consistent racing.

The fleet includes returning champions Alessandro Rombelli’s Stig and Corinthian winners Motions. Michael Wilson’s Shotgunn also returns alongside new entries Django and Team Chocolate. Further additions to the circuit this season include Hatari, Aspire, Chisum and Milkwave.

Fleet numbers are expected to exceed 20 teams later in the season.

Giorgio Benussi, YCCS Secretary General and Sports Director, said, “This rapidly growing circuit fully embodies the truest essence of sailing.” He added, “We look forward to watching the 14 teams do battle on the regatta course off Porto Cervo.”

A full social programme accompanies the racing, including events hosted at the yacht club. Expanded media coverage will follow the circuit throughout the season.
