The ILCA Ireland Munster Championships scheduled for April 4–5 in Baltimore, have been postponed due to severe weather conditions.
Baltimore Sailing Club confirmed the decision following forecasts of strong southerly winds expected to impact West Cork this weekend.
The club said the conditions could create a significant surge in the harbour, making launching unsafe for competitors and support crews.
“Strong southerly winds can create a surge in the harbour making launching dangerous,” organisers stated.
The event will be rescheduled later in the season, with further details to be announced.
Sailors and teams had been preparing for one of the key early-season ILCA fixtures in the region.
