#sb20 – The Dun Laoghaire SB20 sportsboat fleet have announced a number of new additions to the class. Coming just weeks after the addition of Chris Chapman and Yachtsman.ie (IRL 3443) to the Dun Laoghaire fleet, former SB20 regular Chris Arrowsmith has re-joined the class having just purchased Martin Reilly Motors (IRL 3537). Chris and his team will be on the water forDBSC racing before the upcoming Nationals which are being hosted by the RIYC from 4th-6th September.

Class captain James Gorman says 'This marks a resurgence in the local Dun Laoghaire fleet and brings to three the number of new boats this year with John Lyons and Mephisto (IRL 3308) also having joined the fleet earlier this summer'.

With a number of affordable boats available and several parties expressing strong interest in purchasing an SB20 this year, numbers are expected to continue to grow.

Many of the Dun Laoghaire SB20 fleet are already planning to attend the World Championships in Cascais, Portugal next Summer and the real prospect of Ireland hosting a World or European Championships over the next few years gives a buzz among the class at the moment, says Gorman.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
