The Sun Gods banished the wind on Lough Derg during the LDYC regatta from August 11- 17, 2025. John Leech, serving as the Race Officer, and his team of volunteers managed to find sources of wind to create courses even AI could not generate, and all races were completed successfully.
A stunning venue with 24 Shannon One Designs (SODs) following the lead of the S73 all week. David Dickson, along with his crew members Anne Leech and Iseult Hart, swept the LDYC trophies, including many awards such as the main prize, the LDYC Perpetual Challenge Cup, which is awarded with the IS Championship SOD Class medal.
John White, with Ian Croson in the S121, finished second, and the Maloney family Liam and Damian in the S75 in third place.
The Junior fleet was out in force, with Milo Slattery winning the Optimist Clock and Eve Hodgins taking the PY series in her Laser 4.7/ILCS4.
