The AIB DBSC Water Wag race on Wednesday, August 27th, saw all divisions racing for the Transom trophies in Dun Laoghaire Harbour.

Class Captain Tim Pearson made the call for all boats to reef due to the forecast of squally showers. Race Officer Tadgh Donnelly aboard DBSC’s Corinthian set a 3-round Windward/leeward course for the 29 boat fleet in a Southerly 8kt wind with gusts up to 15kts.

After two general recalls, with the second recall under the U flag, Race Officer Donnelly got the fleet away with just one boat recorded as UFD, falling foul of the U flag.

Mariposa, helmed by Cathy MacAleavey, was first to the weather mark and maintained a good lead all the way to the finish.

Guy Kilroy sailing Swift, and John O’Driscoll sailing Moosmie, vied for second place, with Kilroy claiming second place at the finish.

After racing the Wag crews retired to the Royal Irish Yacht Club for après sail food and drinks.

Top 3 results:

1 No. 45, Mariposa, Cathy MacAleavey & Con Murphy
2 No. 38, Swift, Guy & Jackie Kilroy
3 No. 15, Moosmie, John O’Driscoll & Sarah Dwyer
