The AIB DBSC Water Wag race on Wednesday June 17th saw a turn out of 25 boats.
The SW’ly wind was 8 gusting 15 knots, and the Wags were racing for the Geoff Sarratt Trophy, DBSC, and the rescheduled DMYC Regatta for those who had entered.
After a brief postponement, Race Officer Tadgh Donnelly got the fleet away cleanly.
Sean Craig sailing Puffin and Justin Geoghegan sailing Swallow started at the pin end, while Cathy MacAleavey sailing Mariposa started at the committee boat. Craig got to the weather mark first, closely followed by Geoghegan, with Vincent Delany sailing Pansy 3rd.
Geoghegan overtook Craig on the second round, and rounded the second weather mark with a good lead, with Delaney 2nd and Craig 3rd.
Bar Geoghegan who held his commanding lead, places changed again on the next round with Craig rounding the weather mark in 2nd place, with Shindilla sailed by Neil Colin 3rd.
At the finish line Geoghegan got the gun with a convincing lead from Craig and Kilroy who had overtaken Colin to finish 3rd
