12-15 knot northwesterly winds and sunshine produced a strong turnout for Dun Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club's biennial Regatta on Dublin Bay on Saturday.
The one-day competition got the local regatta scene underway as the first of the four waterfront clubs’ regattas at Dun Laoghaire Harbour.
Catering for a host of classes from Cruiser 0 to Cruiser 5a/5b, Sportsboats and One-Design classes, two-handed classes racing under PY and singlehanded PY classes, the regatta provided something for everyone.
Racing on three separate courses, the competition began at 11:30 am.
Two wins from two races gave Sean Lemass's Royal Irish First 40, Prima Forte, the overall win in IRC Zero from Kyran McStay's X35 D-Tox in a three-boat turnout.
A 1,2 in the two races sailed gave Barry Cunningham's Royal Irish J109 Chimaera the DMYC regatta win in IRC One by a single point from Brian Hall's J109, Something Else from the National Yacht Club, who scored a 3,1. Counting a 2, 3 Richard and Tim Goodbody's J109 White Mischief was third in the seven-boat fleet.
In the one-design division, Ken Dumpleton's Rodriquez was the winner, scoring two seconds in the 11-boat Flying Fifteen fleet. Niall Coleman's Flyer was second, with Niall and Nicxky Meagher third in Fantastic Mr Fox.
A 1,3 for national SB20 champion Michael O'Connor gave him the regatta title in a nine-boat fleet ahead of James Gorman's Black with 2,2 and Richard Hayes third in Carpe Diem.

Two race wins for the National Yacht Club's Bandit (Ann Kirwan/Brian Cullen) in the six-boat Ruffian 23 class made certain of victory ahead of the host club's Michael Cutliffe in Ruffles.
Likewise, in the 13-boat ILCA 6 dinghy class, where Royal St. George's Owen Laverty was a double race winner.
