During his visit to Howth Fishery Harbour Centre on Monday (14 July), Timmy Dooley, Minister for State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine was welcomed to Howth Yacht Club.
There he met with HYC Commodore Kevin Monks as well as Tom McMahon, chair of the Harbour Development Committee, Larry Quinn, chair of the Dredging Sub Committee and general manager Aideen Doran.
A key topic for discussion was the long-proposed dredging project for the harbour, which was included as part of a revised National Development Plan four years ago.
In a statement, the club said: “The commodore and his team put forward the serious impact the siltation of the harbour is having on the club and the surrounding community.
“Following the visit the minister is fully briefed, understands the concerns of the harbour users and has agreed to work within his office to progress the project.”
