Dwyer's Rankin Wins Monkstown Bay's 'Dash for Cash' Dinghy Race

Thirty-one boats raced in Monkstown Bay Sailing Club's annual 'Dash for Cash' on Saturday, "a fantastic turn-out", according to the organisers.

Entries for the 'pursuit' event, predominantly from the host club, were boosted by dinghies from RCYC at Crosshaven and Cove SC. They ranged from 505s, National 18, and Albacore to Mirrors, Fevas, Wayfarer, Lasers and the traditional Cork Harbour Rankins, one of which was the overall winner. This was well-known Tommy Dwyer of the host club, also a well-known National 18 sailor, crewed in his Rankin by Chloe Coole, taking the top prize of €300.

The first three boats were all MBSC, Second was Richie Harrington in a Laser ILCA 7 for which the prize was €100 and third Tim and Isobel O'Connor in their Mirror, prize €50.

Sailing conditions were good for the event, sponsored by T.Bourke.
