Bateman Leads MBSC Laser Winter League After Nine Races in Cork Harbour

Chris Bateman leads the Monkstown Bay Sailing Club Laser Winter League after nine races, with the series entering its final stage.

Bateman holds a net score of 18 after counting seven races, following three wins and consistent top-two finishes in blustery winter conditions.

Ronan Kenneally sits second on 24 points, recovering strongly after three DNC results later in the series.

Olin Bateman is third on 25 points after nine races, staying in contention with steady mid-fleet finishes.

Rob Howe and Paul O’Sullivan complete the top five, separated by just two points on net scores of 34 and 36, respectively.

Sean O’Herlihy is tied with O’Sullivan on 36 points, keeping the battle for the podium finely balanced heading into the final day.

Monkstown Bay Sailing Club Laser Winter League after nine races,

The league has so far completed nine races, with two discards applied and three races remaining next week.

A league spokesperson said: “Thanks to the Race Team for the league so far, including Norb, Tony G, Daz Horgan, Dots, Mini Dots and Conor K.”

The final day of racing takes place next week, followed by prize-giving in the Bosun pub.
