Finn Lynch and Ewan McMahon are the latest senior Irish sailors to confirm their attendance at the ILCA Ireland End of Season Event to be held at Royal Cork Yacht Club on Sept 27th/28th.
Lynch and McMahon may be joined by a number of international ILCA 7 sailors coming straight from a senior training camp in Schull. Fiachra McDonnell and Tom Coulter will also compete against the best of the local sailors to try and best the two 2028 Olympic campaigners.
As regular Afloat readers know, the two rivals for the single Irish LA2028 berth have been on the international circuit, with underdog McMahon getting the upper hand on the double Olympian at the Europeans in Sweden in August and achieving a personal best to boot.
Event organiser Eddie Kingston expects sailors from all the harbour clubs to measure themselves against these Olympic-class sailors in the 50th year of competitive ILCA(Laser) racing in Ireland.
Youth Sailing Worlds
In the extremely competitive ILCA 6 fleet, Sienna Wright, Lucy Ives, Bobby Driscoll, Conor Cronin will be battling it out in this counting event to represent Ireland at the Youth Sailing Worlds in Vilamoura in December.

According to Kingston, Paris Olympian Eve McMahon is hoping to be at the event to support her brother and the other hopeful female sailors.
The in-form Max O'Hare will also have to compete against three Royal Cork sailors who recently finished in the top 10 at the ILCA nationals in Ballyholme. Blake Vaughan, Conor Lynch and Daisy Walsh hope to podium on their home waters.
