Entry is now open for the 2026 Crosshaven House PY1000 dinghy race at Royal Cork Yacht Club.
The Notice of Race confirms the first gun on Sunday, 29 March at 1515 for a single mixed dinghy pursuit race. The event uses the RYA Portsmouth Yardstick system.
Entries are open to dinghies with PY ratings between 697 and 1385.
Now in its 12th year, the race is again sponsored by Crosshaven House, continuing a partnership that began in 2023.
Organisers plan to race on the river at high tide, conditions permitting. The format offers a close, spectator-friendly contest early in the season.
The pursuit race format sees boats start from slowest to fastest, with the first to finish taking victory. Results are decided on the water.
A €1,000 prize fund is available. The winner receives €700, second place €200 and third €100.
Additional prizes will be awarded for youngest sailor, first female helm, youngest combined crew age and oldest combined crew age.
The event continues to attract strong fleets. The inaugural 2014 race drew 35 entries and was won by an RS400.
Entries can be made via the Royal Cork Yacht Club website.
