A state-of-the-art vessel designed to be sailed uncrewed has been spotted in Scottish waters.
According to the Glasgow Times, the 78-metre offshore support vessel Armada sailed up the River Clyde before docking at Greenock this past week.
Developed by US-based marine robotics firm Ocean Infinity, the Armada has been touted as the future of support vessels for the offshore renewable energy (ORE) sector, as previously reported on Afloat.ie.
While the ship currently operated with a skeleton crew on board, Ocean Infinity says that the Armada and future vessels in her class “will be capable of working with no personnel offshore whilst also consuming solely renewable fuel such as ammonia”.
