Mariners are being advised that redevelopment works have begun at the ferry terminal on Great Cumbrae.

The project includes the construction of a new slipway and land reclamation for terminal infrastructure. A rock armour revetment will support the reclaimed area. Dredging is planned at the site of the new slipway. The existing slipway will be demolished towards the end of the project.

A piling platform will be formed using aggregate materials. The barge Aria S, assisted by the tugs Coastbuster and Coastworker, will transport aggregate from Hunterston Terminal to Cumbrae Ferry Terminal.

At Cumbrae, the barge will deploy spud legs to hold position during discharge operations. A boom will also be deployed, with a safety boat supporting operational periods.

All vessels involved will maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 12.

Mariners are requested to navigate with additional caution in the area and to keep a safe distance from works and associated vessels.
