Wally's Mediterranean racing season has opened with strong performances across multiple classes at Tre Golfi Sailing Week in Italy. The event marked the start of the brand's biggest-ever summer racing programme and the launch of the new Wally Performance Trophy, which will be awarded throughout the season before an overall winner is crowned at Les Voiles de St Tropez.
Held in the Bay of Naples and Sorrento, Tre Golfi Sailing Week combined the ORC World Championship with the IMA Maxi European Championship, attracting some of the most competitive Wally yachts. The growing Wallyrocket51 fleet featured prominently. RocketNikka, Django and Kilara II competed in the ORC World Championship, recording a series of first and second-place finishes across eight races.

RocketNikka, helmed by Roberto Lacorte, finished third overall, tied on points with the second-placed boat. Django secured fourth place. RocketNikka was also awarded the Wally Performance Trophy as the top-performing Wally yacht at the event.
The results highlighted the increasing competitiveness of the Wallyrocket51 class, with close racing across the fleet despite varying levels of owner experience.
In the IMA Maxi European Championship, the wallycento V, owned by Czech entrepreneur Karel Komarek, won Division One.
Sistership Galateia, owned by Chris Flowers and David Leuschen, claimed line honours in the 150-nautical-mile offshore race after a 17-hour duel with V. The two yachts finished less than four minutes apart.
The Wally 94s Sensei and Astra I also competed in Division Three, while Django 7X finished just two points shy of victory in the Maxi Grand Prix division. The fleet then moved to Porto Cervo, Sardinia, for the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta and the revived Range Rover Sardinia Cup.

Strong north-easterly winds tested crews during the 130-nautical-mile offshore race. Django and RocketNikka finished second and third, respectively, after nearly half the fleet retired.
Further regattas will follow throughout the summer, including the Cyclades Cup in Greece and the Loro Piana Giraglia, before the season concludes at Les Voiles de St Tropez from 26 September to 4 October. Wally said the new Performance Trophy is designed to reward consistent results across the Mediterranean campaign and strengthen competition throughout the fleet.
