Colombia’s naval training ship ARC Gloria will return to Dublin this weekend, with the tall ship opening to the public during a three-day visit to the capital.
The three-masted barque, known as Colombia’s “Ambassador of the Seas”, will welcome visitors aboard at Sir John Rogerson’s Quay from Saturday, October 3, until Monday, October 5.
First Dublin Visit Since 1998
The visit will be Gloria’s first to Dublin since 1998 and provides a further international tall ship attraction for the capital following September’s inaugural Dublin City Council Liffey Festival, when visiting vessels opened to the public at Sir John Rogerson’s Quay.
The return of Gloria is being marked as a special occasion in Colombia-Ireland relations and is expected to have particular significance for the Colombian community living in Ireland.
Colombia’s ‘Ambassador of the Seas’
Operated by the Colombian Navy as a sail-training vessel, Gloria serves as both a training platform and a floating representative of Colombia overseas, showcasing the country’s naval traditions, history and culture.
Members of the public visiting the ship in Dublin will be able to step aboard, see the vessel at close quarters and meet members of her crew.

Sir John Rogerson’s Quay has become a familiar Dublin berth for visiting naval sail-training ships. Afloat previously reported on the Mexican Navy tall ship Cuauhtémoc opening to visitors there during its five-day visit to the capital in 2019.
Tall Ships in Dublin
The Colombian visitor continues a busy period for tall ships in Irish waters. In September, the three-masted Swedish barque Gunilla and other visiting vessels attracted the public to Dublin’s quays during the Liffey Festival.
ARC Gloria will be open to visitors at Sir John Rogerson’s Quay from Saturday, October 3, to Monday, October 5.
