In the women’s skiff, Ireland's Clementine Van Steenberge and Jessica Riordan (pictured top) are just one point off the lead as the World Youth Sailing Championships reaches its halfway stage on Lake Garda, Italy.
The Dun Laoghaire duo got off to a perfect start as the famous Ora katabatic wind blew and won race three and the National Yacht Club and Royal St. George pairing sit in second place overall going into Wednesday on 27 points behind Annabelle Vines and Amelie Hiscocks of Great Britain.
The race standings chopped and changed throughout the day as no teams finished inside the top five in windy conditions across all three races.
Vines and Hiscocks hold a one-point lead on the rest of the fleet going into day three as day one leaders Malena Rüegge and Liv Wicki of Switzerland were displaced from top spot to fourth.
Pearse and Daly 16th in mixed/boys skiff
Cork's Oisín Pierse and Fionn Daly are 16th from 29 after three races in the boys/mixed 29er skiff class. They have two top-five results in their four-race scoreline.
Poland’s Ewa Lewandowska and Krzysztof Królik matched Monday’s marvellous racing and rocketed to another two bullets with a 1, 2, 1 standout performance.
Lucy Ives 15th
Carlingford's Lucy Ives has dropped back to 15th overall, discarding an 18th after four races sailed in the girl's ILCA 6 division.
Alina Shapovalova and Italy’s Maria Vittoria Arseni secured a bullet each, but the Ukrainian remains the sailor to beat with a two-point cushion.
Spain’s Adriana Castro Nuñez completed the top three as yesterday’s leader Hermionie Ghicas of Greece recorded eighth and 10th in her two races to fall to fourth.
Driscoll moves up 20 places in ILCA 6
In the boy's ILCA 6 dinghy, Belfast Lough's Bobby Driscoll discarded a 60th place after four sailed to shoot up the scoreboard by 20 places and lies 27th in his 62-boat fleet.
Italy’s Antonio Pascali was the most consistent to take up the top spot as Anders Bultynck of Belgium found his rhythm again to grab a bullet in the last race of the day to finish in second overall.
