Lough Ree Yacht Club is preparing to host its biennial Double Ree Regatta later this month, welcoming young sailors from across Ireland. The event will bring together the country's four youth double-handed classes – Mirrors, RS Fevas, 420s and 29ers – for a weekend of racing on Lough Ree.

Each class will contest one of its regional events during the regatta. The Mirror class will also stage its National Championships, extending its programme to three days from 19 to 21 July. The RS Feva, 420 and 29er fleets will race over 20 and 21 July.

The regatta is expected to attract youth crews from clubs around the country, providing competitive racing across all four fleets on one of Ireland's premier inland sailing venues.
