The Irish Times reports that its longtime angling correspondent Derek Evans has died at the age of 80.
Evans, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in October 2023, filed his last column for the paper in November 2024.
Prior to taking up his regular “Angling Notes”, Evans was a printer with the paper for more than 20 years.
