Liam Jegou narrowly missed out on a silver medal in an impressive showing in Monday’s (29 July) Paris 2024 canoe slalom final, as RTÉ News reports.

The Ballyvaughan, Co Clare paddler had a near perfect run that was only marred by his touching the 23rd and final gate which resulted in a two-second penalty that dropped him out of medal contention to seventh place overall.

But Jegou remained in good spirits, telling RTÉ Sport: “It's what I’ve been looking for for years, years, years and I got it at the right moment.”

And his Olympics doesn’t end here, as Jegou will compete in the new kayak cross discipline this Friday 2 August.
